Come one, come all: Pearl Paint has something for artisans, amateurs, and even your Martha Stewart wannabes. Known as the “World’s Largest Discount Supplier,” Pearl’s five floors, plus a basement, isn’t even enough to contain all the goodies. Out the back door, and directly across the street, resides its framing shop, and six doors down from that you’ll find the combined home decorating/crafts center. Conveniently, both of these annexed locales hold the same hours as the regular store. Unless you’re on a specific mission, however, you’ll be hard pressed to find a reason to leave this art lover’s colossal candy shop. With aisle upon aisle of immaculately organized materials, Pearl’s extensive selection—including everything from gold leaf to airbrush compressors—is enough to make anyone become a DIY fanatic. A plentiful and well stationed staff will help you locate anything your heart desires, but if you’re looking for a bargain, we are not entirely convinced you will find one here. Try to go during off hours (any day before noon), as there are usually lines due to the store policy of paying-as-you-go in each separate department.–Meredith Stebbins
