A New York must when it comes to art, the UES’s Metropolitan Museum of Art houses some of the world’s most antiquated—and contemporary—exhibitions. Arguably the most famous American museum (and not just because of “The Thomas Crown Affair”), this institution is home to every artist that you learned about in Art History 101 (and with your $20 “recommended” entrance fee you also get access to the museum’s sister, The Cloisters). So whether you are looking for an art-filled Friday night (when the museum stays open until 9 p.m.) or something to do on a rainy Saturday morning after brunching at Sarabeth’s, the Met has makes for an enriching experience. BTW, the Met also has a rooftop bar that’s open during the summer, so if you don’t find a Pierce Brosanan look-a-like near the Renoirs, at least you’ll be able to find Crown at the bar. –Cassandra Handley
