If you want to channel boho alcoholics of yore, White Horse is the place to go. Upon entering the West Village landmark, you feel like you’ve entered some strange hybrid of a captain’s quarters and the world’s mustiest library, but that’s the point here, and on an island of high-speed boite turnover, this tavern is practically ancient. It’s hard not to feel comfortable and at ease here, so settle in with a book, a burger, and a beer—or make like Dylan Thomas and drink yourself to death with whiskey. Though we wouldn’t necessarily recommend that. White Horse is filed under Food&Drink: Outdoor Drinks and Food&Drink: Outdoor Dining.
