Rumor has it that private membership key cards were sent out last week to “select New Yorkers” for access to the coveted Gramercy Park Hotel rooftop. Perched 16 stories above Gramercy, Ian Schrager’s latest buzzworthy boîte has a retractable roof and conversation-worthy works of art from Andy Warhol and Damien Hirst. The piece de resistance is undoubtedly a light installation that covers the entire ceiling of one of the sitting rooms that were designed with Julian Schnabel’s rich Renaissance color palette in mind. So what will the privileged sip while flitting around the roof club in their Louboutins? Most likely the Maca Martini, which is made from sagatiba cachaça or pressed sugarcane juice—one of the hotel’s signature drinks. So while we won’t hold our breaths to receive our membership key card in the mail, for the moment we can still mix up a cocktail Ian Schrager-style.

Maca Martini:
-2 oz. Sagatiba Pura
-1/2 oz. elderflower cordial
-1/2 oz. fresh pressed lime juice
2 ½ oz. apple cider

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with an apple disc and mint sprig. –Urbanista’s Faithful Fashion Editor (who has seen the rooftop with her very own eyes!)
