The Bryant Park Grill, an upscale venue whose entrance is on the south side of Bryant Park, is more about location than the food: The generally American fare is nothing exceptional, but your plate can be easily overlooked while you gaze out across the park. When the weather is nice, eat outside in the shadow of the public library; during the holidays, you can dine in a heated tent sitting at the foot of the ice rink. It’s a busy lunchtime destination, but the restaurant’s bar on the inside ground floor or outdoors on the roof is one of the best places in the area for after-work drinks. Plus, in the summer, they open up their “café”—a large outdoor patio, which located on the north side of the park. It’s a go-to spot for groups of bankers and fashiony types. Just be prepared to shove your way to the bar.
