Tosler Davis, a light and airy loft-space salon near Union Square, is an Urbanista favorite. Not only will you get a superb cut or color (as one beauty editor put it, Alan Tosler is a “great guy” who gives a “great haircut” at a “great price,” and Sean Davis does “best blond [she’s] ever had”), but you’ll also feel right at home in the salon (the wood floors, vintagey decor, and muted color scheme make for a relaxed-but-still-totally-chic ambiance, and the warm customer service keeps the atmosphere unpretentious). Even if you don’t schedule an appointment with one of the principles, fear not: The other Tosler Davis stylists come highly recommended. Prices start at about $80 and rise steadily.
